Desborough: Photos: The Desborough Shoe Company

This photograph shows the annual tea party of the Desborough Shoe Company.  The party took place in Raunds Field, Buckwell Street,  Desborough.

We believe this photograph shows one of the company’s tea parties during the early 1900s.

The Desborough Shoe Company was begun in 1909 by Mr. A.E. Elkington.

The company’s premises were located in Queen Street, Desborough, where they manufactured men’s leather shoes sewn by machine. Workers are also known to have manufactured shoes in their own homes.
