For the first time Northamptonshirebootandshoe.org.uk aims to provide the visitor with an overview of Northamptonshire’s recent boot and shoe heritage by telling the story of decline and ongoing renaissance of the county’s internationally renowned footwear industry to the present day.

The website is a direct legacy of GLOBAL FOOTPRINT, a London 2012 Cultural Olympiad project that celebrated the county’s defining creative economy through a mix of contemporary art commissions and ‘living’ heritage events.

Northamptonshire County Council would like to thank the following organisations for their contribution to the development of the website: Earls Barton Museum, Desborough Heritage Centre, Long Buckby Museum, Wollaston Museum, Dr Martens, Daventry Museum and Kettering Museum.

Northamptonshire County Council also wish to thank all participating artists and the projects core supporters namely Arts Council England, Heritage Lottery Fund and the Legacy Trust UK.
