I am carrying out some research on the old shoe factories of Kettering and found your site of particular interest. However, William’s shoe shop, shown as ’41 Regent Street’, appears to be incorrect, this address is in fact one of a pair of bay-fronted houses dated 1890. This confusion appears to be with Kelly’s directory of 1903
which shows William, ‘Boot and Shoe maker’ being at 41 Rockingham Road Kettering. Interestingly, Kelly’s 1906, shows that William was now at 11 Regent Street, this was in a short row of shops, some of which still survive but sadly No 11 no longer has a shop frontage. William’s 41 Rockingham road was probably replaced many years ago by Sainsbury’s car park.
